Kolkata Night Riders Choose Bat First
Toss Kolkata Knight Riders chose to bat v Delhi Daredevils
Gautam Gambhir did his spin-heavy XI a big favour by winning the toss and asking Delhi Daredevils to bowl on a Pune pitch that Virender Sehwag said had a dry patch on one end. Kolkata Knight Riders made just one change as Laxmi Shukla came in for Manoj Tiwary, with Gambhir expressing confidence in his "three quality spinners" - Sunil Narine, Shakib Al Hasan and Iqbal Abdulla.
Sehwag came back for Daredevils having recovered from the flu, as did Ross Taylor. Andre Russell, the West Indies allrounder, and Unmukt Chand, the India Under-19 captain, were left out. Daredevils stuck to what has worked for them this season, going in with three fast bowlers and the lone spinner in Pawan Negi.
Sehwag was concerned about the dry patch on the surface, which otherwise looked hard and had a bit of grass according to him. The winner of this game will proceed to the final while the loser will have another chance in the second qualifier on Friday.
