Players being monitored, confirms PCB chief
ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed on Monday that the officials of the PCB anti-corruption unit were already with the national team and were looking after the security in Dubai besides monitoring the players’ phone calls during the series.
In a communication with Dawn, PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf said: “Our anti-corruption officer is already with the team and is looking after the security issues of the players. Besides, the players’ rooms are out of bound for visitors and their telephones are being monitored by the [anti-corruption] officer.
“The vigilance division is in place now and we are trying to get a senior, expert police officer to head this division for which the interviews are in progress.”
It was also recently revealed that other than the anti-corruption unit of the cricket board, the federal government were also keeping an eye on the Pakistan team to avert any untoward incident while Dubai police was also assisting the Pakistani officials in security and other matters.
